Referring to your Despatch No. 361 of 9th.
December on the subject of the grant of extra remuneration to
Messrs. Wright and White, I have the honour to submit the follow-
-ing details with regard to the work of the Buildings Ordinance
Office during the period in question.

In addition to the above, 26 private streets
were dealt with in 1912, compared with 8 in 1911, in the matter of
re-surfacing in whole or in part.
During the 15 months (August, 1911, to October, 1912, inclusive), Mr. Wright put in more than 1,100 hours overtime.

In view of these facts, I should be glad if you
could see your way to re-consider your decision with regard to the gratuities recommended which I agree with the Director of Public Works in considering are well deserved. The year was an exceptional- -ly busy one for the office concerned owing to the large building operations undertaken in consequence of the influx of Chinese into
